Noopept is a dipeptide similar to the nootropic agent Piracetam, though technically Noopept is not a racetam (since it lacks the 2-oxo-pyrollidine nucleus).
Anecdotal reports suggest that Noopept dispels brain fog, improves verbal fluency, and alleviates the tip of the tongue phenomenon. Research tentatively indicates that Noopept may globally improve cognitive function and increase the activity of neurotrophins.
Noopept is best known for its ability to increase the expression of hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF). Both of these neuropeptides play an important role in neuroplasticity, synapse formation and resilience to depression.
